Experience the romanticism of the horse and carriage combination. After instruction in how to handle a horse from the seat of a carriage, a special ‘driving test’ can be undertaken to test your technique and earn a ‘licence’. 

At the beginning of the 20th century virtually every vehicle on London's streets was horse-drawn with more than 300,000 horses needed to keep the city on the  move.  From farm carts to ornate and priceless carriages.  

As well as competitions for best turned out horse and carriage, the sport of is now a recognised  following formation of rules in 1968 by HRH Prince Phillip. Modelled on the ridden three day event, a Horse Driving Trials is a triathlon for horses/ponies which tests the overall versatility of an animal in harness.
